2010 Gecko Tessellations Corn Maze

The 2010 Gecko Tessellations Maze was inspired by the mind-bending works of M.C. Escher. A Dutch graphic artist of the 1900s, Escher was most famous for his intricate patterns and optical illusions. This includes his “impossible drawings.” He also incorporated mathematical and scientific concepts into his work, such as the fibonacci spiral, which we included in the tail of the gecko.

Escher’s lithographs of never-ending staircases, although not explicitly included in the maze design, were also inspiration in their relation to a maze.
