The 2012 maze was inspired by the famous drawing by Leonardo DaVinci, The Vitruvian Man. However, our Vitruvian Man is one of the future, including cybernetic alterations to his human form. The end result is a steampunk-esque journey through technological advancement. Throughout the maze design are different examples of such technology. Starting with interlocking gears, then the tracks of a circuit board, and then finally the near-impossible to navigate nano-tube.
The Vitruvian Man Corn Maze was designed with the idea of highlighting how in the modern-age we live alongside technology so seamlessly, as if it were part of our biological form. During his time, Leonardo DaVinci was famed for his inventions, but he could likely have never even imagined how far we have come. We are fascinated by technology and all that it can do, including helping us to design and create our amazing mazes every year.
